Denim Secrets

If you follow me on instagram or snapchat (@sunniebrookj), you’ll know that I basically live in denim. Jeans, overalls, dresses, shirts- the more denim the better. It’s super easy to dress up a pair of cute jeans with some heels, red lipstick and wild, wavy hair, or to keep it super casual in a white fitted t-shirt and overalls. It’s just such a classy look. I like investing money in a couple good pairs every couple of years and then following basic denim care to keep them in good shape.

When buying denim, it’s really all about the look you’re going for. If you’re a slave to the 70’s buy a good pair of flared jeans, or if you’re loving the 90s revival of laid-back cool, you’ll love the ripped-up boyfriend jeans. There’s a style + color for every person- it’s really about making sure you get jeans that are high-quality and fit you well.

Once you find your dream jeans, it’s really all about caring for it. Try not to wash your jeans too often, as it can fade the color and wear. If you have to wash, use the coldest setting, or even better, hand wash it. If you’re washing your jeans for the first time, try adding a couple of tablespoons of salt – it helps set the dye.

AVOID the dryer at all costs. Ideally you’ll barely wash your jeans at all. You can kill any odor by sticking them in the freezer- it kills odor causing bacteria!

Who makes your favorite jeans? What’s your favorite way to wear them?

  • Never tried the freezer trick… Will try it!

Thanks for sharing! Also, lately I’ve read so much about not washing your clothes so much (especially jeans) and it’s so interesting to me, will try to minimize washing my clothes because the clothes will last me longer if I do so! 🙂 xoxo
